Just Getting Started
That might have been the longest and shortest Winter on record. Yes, we had winter storms, and cold weather, and ice, but we also had random 50 Degree day’s in February. Regardless, we’ve made it to the turning point and Spring is around the corner. We know that no body is more excited for that than the No Coast Crew, but first, we wanted to share some exciting news.
When we started No Coast Social Club, our goal was to help preserve the lakes and rivers around us, and we all rely on them for more than just recreation. One way we wanted to do that was to donate to non-profit organizations that have the structures in place to do the most good. We were super excited to make our first donation in January to a local organization, Friends of Coralville Lake.
Now, you’ve heard us talk about them in previous posts, and you’ve seen (and hopefully purchased) one of our This Shirt Saves Lakes solar shirts, so you know the Brothers can talk the talk, and now we wanted to show we walk the walk. Since we are still small, the donation wasn’t as large as we had hoped to give, but we know that every dollar counts. After the donation, I was able to speak with the President of Friends of Coralville Lake, Jon K, about the donation:
“Thank you for this donation! Every donation helps us toward our goals of saving Coralville Lake from the sedimentation and water quality that has plagued it for years. This donation will help us with our Spring clean-up events where we aim to keep trash and debris from washing into the lake and causing more harm to the water and wildlife. We look forward to working with No Coast Social Club now and in the future!”
No Coast was even able to join Friends of Coralville Lake at a local boat and outdoor show. It was great to be next to them and help spread the word about the great work they are doing. The feedback was great, and they were able to get some new volunteers to sign up for their events.
As we look forward to 2025, we have already had contact with a few organizations from neighboring watersheds and beyond about how No Coast can help them on their missions. Our next donation window will be this July, with the announcement coming by August 1st.
If you are a non-profit interested in teaming up with No Coast Social Club, reach out to us on our non-profit contact page.
This was just the first step, and we are just getting started. Together, we can save our lakes!
The Cedar Rapids Boat show was a great, small, local boat show where No Coast Social Club joined Friends of Coralville Lake to help spread awareness and connect with others interested in helping support their cause.
